On Campus Global Summer Programs
The Churchill Institute for Global Engagement is a leader in providing enjoyable summer academic programs focused on leadership, academic success, and leadership development. In recent years, the Institute has hosted students from China, Turkey, and the United States in providing programs such as the American Summer Leadership Program where international high school and college students learn about American history, culture, and politics, as well as American leadership, business, and innovation. The ASLP also provides the context for students to learn about Sir Winston Churchill and his famous “Iron Curtain” speech given here at Westminster College in 1946. The Institute has also offered summer programs focused on transnational issues and Asian studies as well. These programs serve as enrichment programs to introduce the United States, Midwestern culture, and Westminster College to international students and to introduce the world to American students. Students may earn optional academic credit during these high quality on-campus programs. All global summer programs allow students to stay in Westminster’s residence halls, eat meals in the Mueller Leadership Hall, and experience the beautiful Westminster campus.
American Summer Leadership Program (NEW!)
This program will provide students from outside the United States the opportunity to visit the Westminster College campus and participate in nine-day intensive, yet fun academic program focused on understanding American society, culture, leadership, innovation, and the English language. It can also be taken for 1 hour of elective college credit from Westminster College as well. Both high school and college students from other countries are the intended audience for this program. It is a wonderful introduction to the United States, American culture, and American college/university life for international students who are curious about life on an American college campus and considering studying for their undergraduate or post-graduate degree at an American institution like Westminster College.
