for Leonard & McClure, one must include specific page numbers, e.g. (Leonard & McClure, 147)

for Powell's textbook: give the name of the text, the line number(s), the page number, e.g. (Homeric Hymn to Demeter, 1-5, 221)

bibliography reminders:

at end of paper not on a separate sheet (if possible)

Option 1: Write two 600-1000ish word essays, using the two topics given below:

Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite and the Homeric Hymn to Demeter give us clues into ancient Greek society. Specifically, it gives us valuable information about the expectations, roles, and actions of both unmarried and married women. Discuss.

Of the tricksters we studied in Leonard & McClure, Chapter 5, which one is most like Hermes (Powell, Ch 8) and which one is least like, and why? Don't forget to give good, pertinent examples for all three myths--those of Hermes and the two other tricksters.

Option 2: Write one 1200-1800 word essay on one of the three topics below:

How are the views about the expectations, roles, and/or actions of both married and unmarried women in both the Homeric Hymn to Aphrodite and the Homeric Hymn to Demeter and at least one of the following--the Hawaiian myth we covered (124-132) and the Vietnamese myth (147-154)--still prevalent in the world today.
