  • Write on one of the topics below:

    1. Apply Levi-Strauss'structuralism theory to the myth of Gilgamesh, restricting your discussion to the version of the myth given in Powell's text or the additions from class. If you use the additions from class, then cite class notes thus: (Leuci, lecture)--see pdf on MLA7 for how to include lectures in the bibliography. Only use class notes for material not in Powell's text.

    2. Apply Levi-Strauss' structuralism theory to Heracles' parent's myths, his birth and early life prior to starting the twelve labors, restricting your discussion to the version of the myth given in Powell's text.

    3. Excluding the section detailing the 12 labors of Heracles, how does the material in Powell's chapter 14 modify or confirm what we have previously learned about male/female relationships? Make sure your answer is reflective of the various examples in pp 370-380 and 395-404, not just the first few examples or the last few examples.
