GETTING YOUR CERTIFICATION
With the Westminster Education program's timeline, you obtain certification in 4 years.
The Westminster Education program maintains rigorous standards for both acceptance into the program and for the level of education provided to our future teachers. Students must meet a required overall GPA (2.75) and content area GPA (3.0) to be admitted to the Teacher Education Program, as well as meet required student teaching hours during their time in the program. Incorporated into all Westminster education methods courses, Common Core standards and Missouri Standards for Preparation of Educators (MoSPE) ensure that graduates are well equipped to enter the classroom. The Westminster Education program completers receive a Missouri Initial Professional Teaching Certificate. This certificate is recognized by all other states, as a basis for their own licensing procedures and graduates easily obtain certificates for any state where they may wish to teach.
Education Degrees Offered
- Early Childhood Education: birth through age 8
- Elementary Education: grades 1-6
- Middle School: grades 5-9
Areas of Concentration: Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies - Secondary Education: grades 9-12
Areas of Concentration (all include a minor in that discipline): Social Studies, Chemistry, English, Biology, Mathematics, Physical Sciences, General Science and Business Education - Physical Education: grades K-12 (Can also obtain a Coaching Minor)
